Job description

About the Role

As Technical Designer, you will execute technical product specifications for multiple complex programs within Kohl’s Proprietary Brands.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop accurate technical specifications aligning with Kohl’s brand ID, minimum construction standards, tolerances and grading requirements

  • Collaborate with Product Integrity to ensure products meet performance testing protocols and requirements

  • Conduct benchmarking and remain current on market trends and competition, providing recommendations based on insights

  • Apply industry knowledge to resolve fit and production issues, fostering supplier and peer relationships

  • Demonstrate proficiency in grading and consistency management, aligning with Technical Design Leadership and suppliers to implement changes

  • Prepare for the Seasonal Sample Fit Benchmark by reviewing samples and presenting hypotheses for product improvements

  • Guide new hires on Kohl’s processes and procedures

  • Communicate technical specifications and collaborate with Vendors via PLM during product development

  • Communicate sample corrections clearly to Vendors through written summaries, sketches and photos

  • Support vendor onboarding and Certified Technical Designer training

  • Additional tasks may be assigned

 

What Skills You Have

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in Technical Design, Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Manufacturing or related industries

  • Experience with Browzwear and other 3D design technologies to create accurate virtual samples, conduct fit analysis, and reduce physical sampling throughout the product development process.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing or a related field of expertise

 

Preferred

  •  Experience using PLM and Adobe Illustrator or similar specification packages and sketching programs

  • Knowledge of textiles, construction and pattern-making/grading

This role is based at our New York Design Office. You’ll work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.


Pay Range: $90,600.00 - $153,100.00
