What is the difference between Engineering Designer vs Mechanical Engineer?

AspectEngineering DesignerMechanical Engineer
CredentialsTypically requires a diploma or associate degree in engineering technologyBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Work EnvironmentDesign offices, CAD labs, manufacturing facilitiesDesign, testing, manufacturing, and fieldwork
Industry UsageUsed across manufacturing, product design, and constructionPrimarily in product development, automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors

Engineering Designers focus on creating detailed plans and CAD models based on specifications, often working closely with engineers. Mechanical Engineers have a broader role, including analysis, testing, and overseeing the implementation of designs. Both roles require technical skills, but Mechanical Engineers typically hold higher degrees and have more responsibilities in the development process.
