Are you our Mechanical Engineering Designer
This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager at our Atlas Copco-Grayling, MI facility. In this role, you will collaborate with the Engineering Manager and customer during the development of concepts and designs. Use your wisdom and mechanical ingenuity to create a highly functional tool design that meets the customer needs.
Here's how you'll make an impact:
  • Responsible for mechanical designs associated with production of fastening and Automation solutions.
  • Design applications that meet customer requirements & are cost effective.
  • Maintain company standard drawings on products / systems.
  • Follow standards drafting practices.
  • Design creation will include 3D models, 2D layouts, detail drawings, & bill ofmaterial.
  • Consistently meet project deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interact and work well with coworkers and customers.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork andCollaboration.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance at work is mandatory.

To succeed, you will need
  • 10+ years of Mechanical CAD design experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCad and very strong working knowledge of Solidworks.
  • Design experience of nutrunner fixtured tools.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical drafting practices.
  • Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of the cross-functional teams.
  • Highly motivated and disciplined in time management.
  • Proficient understanding of GD&T.
  • Machine design experience for general / final assembly for automotive industry.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to work with advanced mathematical concepts, and have a high level of analytical ability.
  • Reasoning skills: Ability to technically define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Solid understanding of tolerancing fits, and how to apply them
