Location: New York, New York

Work Type: Full-Time / On Site

Job Summary

A growing apparel company is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to manage garment fit, technical specifications, and product development for assigned apparel categories. This role is responsible for executing fit comments, developing technical specification packages, maintaining fit standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and overseas manufacturing partners throughout the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, measure, and evaluate fit samples from prototype through production.

  • Conduct garment fittings and document fit comments accurately.

  • Prepare samples for fittings by measuring and inspecting garment construction.

  • Create and maintain technical specification packages and fit standards.

  • Collaborate with Design and Production teams during fit sessions.

  • Record detailed fit comments, measurements, photos, and construction notes.

  • Approve garment fit and construction while ensuring development timelines are met.

  • Identify and communicate garment quality issues.

  • Communicate technical comments and revisions with overseas vendors.

  • Provide clear development feedback through written reports, sketches, and pattern corrections.

  • Support overseas manufacturing partners with technical guidance related to garment fit and construction.

  • Maintain development sample measurements in Excel and PLM systems.

  • Track sample status and approvals according to seasonal calendars.

  • Assist in creating accurate technical packages for internal and external teams.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in Technical Design, Garment Fitting, or Apparel Product Development.

  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, sewing techniques, and specification development.

  • Experience reviewing fit samples and implementing pattern corrections.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and PLM systems.

  • Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners is preferred.

  • Mandarin language skills are a plus.
