The Position: Assistant Technical Designer
Location: Chicago, IL - Onsite
Position Overview
The Assistant Technical Designer will be supporting the technical design team in providing high levels of accuracy for the overall fit, comfort, and construction of our apparel styles at AKIRA. You will be working cross-functionally with our buying team and vendors to communicate design and fit adjustments.
Responsibilities
  • Attend weekly fittings to take notes on revisions and alterations for the apparel
  • Communicate all recorded sample corrections to the vendors in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with the buyers and designers to understand the concept/vision of the product
  • Unpacking and hanging new samples
  • Prep and analyze garments prior to fittings
  • Maintain the technical design data for all samples
  • Help in building a library of spec items
  • Troubleshoot fit issues both on and off the model's

Qualifications:
  • Must have knowledge of textiles, pattern specification, and garment construction
  • Strong understanding of pattern specifications and measurements of specs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail, deadline-driven, and strong attention to detail
  • Fashion Design Degree
