This Position reports to:

Gestionnaire, Operations Terrebonne

As Technical Designer, you will have the opportunity to create the design of equipment, systems, or installations or modifies the pre-engineered designs for assignments by applying standard design concepts. Each day, you will assist in designing engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to specification. You will also showcase your expertise by participating in design reviews and design verification and modifying the design, as necessary.

This role is contributing to the Electrification, Installation Products division of ABB and is located in Terrebonne.

Responsibilities:

Technical contribution

  • Assists in designing engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to specification.
  • Participates in design reviews and design verification, and modifies design as necessary.


Customer

  • Supports the preparation of specific aspects of design assignments to meet the contractual obligations, adhering to safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.


Technical leadership and knowledge sharing

  • Participates in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools, and processes.
  • Learns from best practices / Lessons-Learned documentation.


Processes and tools

  • Uses standard processes and tools applicable to their own area of responsibility.
  • Reports process and tool inefficiencies and suggests ideas for improvement.


Risk and opportunity management

  • Supports technical risk assessments and implements resulting actions for one's projects.


Contract management

  • Ensures that Bill of Materials (BOM) for the project meets contractual obligations.


Planning and control

  • Follows work plans and cost estimates provided by the project manager.
  • Ensures quality and timely implementation of projects within the targeted cost.


Supply Chain management

  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain function and the Project Manager(s) to meet the contractual requirements.


Manufacturing and Testing

  • Coordinates with Manufacturing and Testing functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured/staged and tested.
  • Updates the engineering deliverables as-built.


Commissioning and Service

  • Coordinates with commissioning / service functions to ensure the designs are appropriately installed and commissioned and updates the engineering deliverables post installation and commissioning (if applicable as part of the contract).


License to Operate / Core Values

  • Reports any integrity, compliance, safety, cybersecurity, quality, contract, program, and cost issues to the management and/or project manager(s) for resolution.
  • Ensures Bill of Materials (BOM) for the project meets contractual obligations.


Collaboration / Leadership

  • Works closely with project manager right from the receipt of contract/order till closure, to meet the technical requirements of the contract.
  • Collaborates with the supply chain, manufacturing, and testing functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured / staged and tested.
  • Coordinates with commissioning / service functions to ensure the designs are appropriately installed and commissioned (if applicable as part of the contract).

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in technical drafting/design, particularly using Solid Edge software
  • Experience with CNC control programming
  • Knowledge of ADAMA software
