Shared Services (HR) Summer Intern

Reports to: Shared Services Manager
Department: Janitorial and/or Landscaping
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Internship)


Position Summary:

The Shared Services (HR) Summer Intern will support the daily operations of the Shared Services team across multiple divisions. This role provides hands-on experience in recruiting, onboarding, human resources, administrative support, and exposure to basic financial processes. The internship is designed for students pursuing a career in Human Resources or a related field who are eager to gain real-world experience in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with recruiting efforts through job postings, candidate outreach, and applicant tracking
  • Support initial candidate screenings and scheduling interviews
  • Help guide applicants through completing electronic onboarding forms
  • Assist with background checks and drug screening coordination
  • Process employee paperwork and maintain accurate electronic records
  • Support new hire onboarding and orientation sessions
  • Assist with maintaining employee files in compliance with company standards and legal requirements
  • Provide administrative support for HR functions, including FMLA tracking and unemployment documentation
  • Help manage uniform inventory and order office supplies
  • Assist with maintaining customer and employee profiles in HR systems
  • Support managers with timesheets, scheduling, and basic payroll-related tasks
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Familiarity with HR systems (HRIS/ATS such as Dayforce)
  • Previous internship, campus leadership, or work experience in HR or administrative roles
