Job Summary

The Giant Eagle Intern Development Program is designed to provide college/university students with real world business experience in a Giant Eagle or Market District location. This full-time, paid internship will provide hands-on training and experience in running a retail, grocery business, managing and leading teams, and providing a Guest-first approach. Throughout the 10-week internship, you will spend your days learning to lead and motivate a team, drive sales results, merchandise products, and provide an exceptional experience for our Guests. At the conclusion of your internship, you will have the exciting opportunity to join us for a second year in a Retail Shared Services (corporate) department that falls within your area of study or as an elevated retail intern.

Job Description

Experience Required: 0 to 6 months; Strong proficiency in MS Office applications: PowerPoint, Word, Excel & Outlook; Excellent work record;
Experience Desired: Previous retail experience
Education Desired: At least 1 year of college or higher education
Lifting Requirement: Up to 25 pounds
Travel Required: Regional - Daily, 10 - 25%; Regional - Overnight, Less than 10%
Job Responsibilities
  • As a Giant Eagle intern no two days are the same, but a typical day may include the following:
  • Spend time shadowing the store leader and department leaders
  • Lead through daily priorities
  • Partner with leader to learn more about coaching and training
  • Work with leadership to set goals and expectations
  • Collaborate with fellow retail leadership interns on projects
  • Deliver an excellent Guest experience
  • Work with leaders to understand business reporting and Guest insights
  • Actively participate in internship training activities, development opportunities, and events
  • Foster a safe, diverse, and inclusive culture
