Overview
Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly qualified Senior Training Specialist - Space Control Systems Operator to support the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) and the Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence (SMDCoE), also known as the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense School (SMDS).
The Senior Training Specialist will support the education, training, and leader in development of Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians, and mission partners in Army Space and Missile Defense operations. Responsibilities include developing and delivering training, supporting Army doctrine for Space, High Altitude, and Global Missile Defense operations, creating and maintaining individual and collective training tasks, and developing instructional materials.
The position also supports the U.S. Army Quality Assurance Program by ensuring training products and instruction meet Army standards and accreditation requirements. This role provides direct support to the Space Operations Training Division, helping ensure training remains current, mission-focused, and aligned with evolving operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Training Specialist will:
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Army space capabilities and the integration of space operations into Army missions
  • Deliver instruction for Space and Missile Defense School (SMDS) courses, with primary responsibility for the Space Control Systems Operator Qualification Course
  • Train personnel on space control systems and satellite communications (SATCOM) interference analysis, including system operations, mission planning, command and control (C2), virtual training environments, troubleshooting, and intelligence support
  • Develop, update, and maintain lesson plans, Programs of Instruction (POIs), course ware, and training materials in accordance with TRADOC Regulation (TR) 350-70 and Army accreditation standards
  • Design and administer student evaluations, practical exercises, demonstrations, and performance assessments to measure learning outcomes
  • Apply the ADDIE instructional systems design methodology to analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve training programs
  • Research emerging threats to Army space-enabled capabilities and incorporate current tactics, techniques, and procedures into course content
  • Coordinate with SMDS training divisions and government stakeholders to ensure course content remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with Army doctrine and institutional training requirements
  • Conduct After Action Reviews (AARs), analyze training results, identify trends, and recommend improvements to enhance course effectiveness
  • Travel as required to support training events, exercises, and mission requirements

Requirements
Skills and Experience
The Senior Training Specialist must have:
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
  • 10+ years of military space operations experience as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) or Company Grade Officer
  • Experience supporting Offensive Space Operations (Space Control), Counter-SATCOM systems, and related mission areas
  • Demonstrated experience operating space control systems and conducting satellite communications (SATCOM) interference analysis.
  • Working knowledge of the microwave portion of the electromagnetic spectrum and its application to space control operations
  • Strong understanding of space operations, space-enabled capabilities, and their integration into Army and Joint military operations
  • Knowledge of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) and Army operational planning
  • Experience delivering instructor-led training, facilitating classroom instruction, and briefing military leaders, government personnel, and other stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the ADDIE instructional systems design model and adult learning principles
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Education and Certifications
The Senior Training Specialist must meet the following:
Required
  • MOSQ: 35S or 35M, FA40, Space 200, ASCBC, ASCF, Space Control Operator, or other relevant space courses
  • Graduate of a military instructor training course (CFD-IC, ITC/SGITC, FIFC, ABIC, AFBIC, etc.)
  • Experience with trouble shooting procedures of SATCOM terminals and associated terrestrial equipment
  • Experience with C2 systems and processes supporting USSPACECOM
  • Experience with EMI detection, monitoring, and mitigation

Preferred
  • Master's degree in education, Strategic Studies, or a technical discipline
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)
  • Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+)
  • Space 200/300 or USSF Professional Military Education (PME) graduate

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
