Job description


The Technical Training Specialist will support the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). This role is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs for both technical and non-technical audiences. The specialist prepares instructor-led and web-based courses, job aids, and supplementary documentation covering software solutions, IT security, system installation, and operational support processes. This position works closely with a team of training specialists to maintain and revise technical and system curricula. The role also involves analyzing training needs and translating complex technical information into clear, accessible instructional materials.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement technical training curricula for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare, conduct, and evaluate instructor-led and web-based training programs.
  • Deliver training on standard operating procedures, software solutions, IT security, system installation, and equipment.
  • Develop training materials, including course outlines, job aids, videos, and instructional exercises.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and supplementary training materials.
  • Gather and analyze audience needs to inform training content and delivery methods.
  • Assist in the design of computer-based and multimedia training curricula.
  • Plan and lead classroom training, electronic learning, and other computer-aided instructional formats.
  • Research and recommend training vendors, courses, and resources.
  • Stay current on developments in technical training methods and tools.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing technical training curricula for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • 5 years of experience preparing, conducting, and evaluating technical training programs, including instructor-led and/or web-based training.
  • 5 years of experience conducting classes on standard operating procedures for software solutions, IT security, IT system installation, software programming, system maintenance, software support, operational support best practices, and/or equipment.
  • 5 years of experience developing training programs and materials, including web-based courses, instructor-led courses, job aids, videos, course outlines, instructional materials, exercises, and training aids.
  • 5 years of experience delivering technical or software training in classroom, virtual/web-based, electronic learning, multimedia, or other computer-aided instructional environments.
  • 5 years of experience gathering, analyzing, translating, and composing technical information into clear instructional materials for technical and non-technical personnel.
  • 5 years of experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, training materials, course curricula, job aids, procedures, or supplementary instructional documentation.
  • 5 years of experience with web-based Learning Management Systems (LMS) and eLearning authoring tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience delivering technical training in cloud-based technology.
