A day in the life
Our Accounting team oversees the company's financial well-being and supports operational and business planning in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are entrusted to properly account for and report the business activity at our large and growing company. As a Real Estate Operations Accountant, you will play a key role in financial data cleanup, reconciliation, and process optimization across critical areas within Real Estate Operations Accounting. Your work will be instrumental in identifying and resolving discrepancies, streamlining workflows, and ensuring financial accuracy across multiple business areas.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Strengthen reconciliation quality and control effectiveness by ensuring authoritative support, disciplined reconciling item management and transparent reporting that drives timely cleanup and closure by:
    • Perform detailed account reconciliations,
    • Improve reconciling item discipline (classification, support, action plans)
    • Review historical financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure proper adjustments to balances
    • Reduce aged items and close the loop (fewer carryforwards, fewer repeats)
  • Identify opportunities to automate using current technology (Ai, RPA, etc)
  • Identify inefficiencies in existing business processes and propose improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as they arise
  • Implement best practices to streamline workflows and reduce errors.
  • Work closely with the Senior, Manager, and internal teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized documentation to support audits and financial reporting requirements.
  • Assist in preparing reports and summaries detailing cleanup progress and outstanding items.

Building blocks for success
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of experience, preferably with accounting experience at a large multi-entity company and / or public accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Outlook, and Word) and reporting systems (PeopleSoft and Yardi Property Management experience preferred).
  • Strong analytical, process improvement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate issues and solutions to management and collaborate effectively with operations, accounting, and finance teams.

Hiring Salary Range of: $70,000 - $96,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate's location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
