Position Overview

Red Tail Acquisitions is seeking a Payroll Coordinator Intern to join our Irvine office for a 10-week paid summer internship. This role provides hands-on exposure to payroll operations and the administrative processes that support accurate and timely employee compensation.

Interns will be mentored by a senior leader and may have the opportunity to work directly with leadership on real-world projects. This internship offers a behind-the-scenes look at payroll and People Operations, with a strong focus on administrative support, data accuracy, and compliance.

What Youโ€™ll Do

As a Payroll Coordinator Intern, you will support the payroll and People Operations teams with a variety of administrative and operational responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting with reviewing timesheets, commissions, bonuses, and payroll-related data for accuracy
  • Supporting the processing of new hire paperwork and entering employee information into HRIS/payroll systems
  • Assisting with recording employee job and pay changes, including transfers, promotions, and terminations
  • Helping compile and organize payroll data from timesheets and internal systems
  • Supporting the tracking of employee time-off records, including vacation, sick leave, and other absences
  • Assisting with payroll audits and identifying discrepancies for review
  • Helping coordinate distribution of pay-related materials to site locations
  • Supporting responses to employee payroll-related questions and escalating as needed
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant employee records (digital and physical)
  • Assisting with employment verification requests
  • Running reports and supporting payroll data audits and reporting
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks and special projects

Requirements & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited program, Real Estate, Hospitality or Property Management preferred.
  • Sophomore year completed by start of Internship, preferred.
  • High school diploma required (currently enrolled in or pursuing higher education preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple administrative tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
  • ADP Workforce Now experience preferred
  • ADP eTIME (Enterprise eTIME) experience preferred
  • Payroll or ADP certification preferred but not required
  • Strong communication skills and professional demeanor

Additional Information

This is a fully on-site internship based in Irvine, CA, operating Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The program is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience in payroll operations within a professional and collaborative environment.
