Nature & Purpose of Position
Primary Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will perform research and provide support for Dr. Cardinal's current projects, including but not limited to:
Literature Reviews: Conduct comprehensive reviews of evidence-based best practices in:
  • Experiential learning methodologies
  • Undergraduate research programs
  • Internship effectiveness and outcomes
  • Career success metrics and pathways
  • Global engagement initiatives
  • Study abroad program evaluation
  • International student support services

Research & Writing: Assist with research design, data collection, analysis, and academic writing
Community Engagement: Participate in campus observation, collaboration, and outreach activities
Data Management: Organize and maintain research databases and citation libraries
AI Research & Discovery Tools:
  • Perplexity: AI-powered research assistant with real-time web access
  • Semantic Scholar: AI-enhanced academic paper search and analysis
  • Research Rabbit: Article discovery with citation network visualization
  • Connected Papers: Visual exploration of academic paper relationships
  • Elicit: Research question answering using academic literature
  • Consensus: Evidence-based answers from scientific research

AI Writing & Analysis Tools:
  • ChatGPT/Claude: AI-assisted research, writing, and analysis
  • Scite: Smart citation analysis and paper validation
