As a Feed Mill Driver, you can count on becoming not just part of a growing company, but a family. POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:The Feed Mill Driver is responsible for delivering feed from the mill to various farm locations. Incumbent shall perform duties while promoting safety, care and timeliness. Individual shall uphold state and federal regulations and rules related to commercial transportation. Incumbent may also assist feed mill staff with mill functions from time to time.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Feed transportation & deliveryOperate truck in a manner consistent with commercial driving regulations and road restrictions, such as speed and weightParticipate in certification and training programs to maintain CDL requirements and promote safetyMaintain an alert countenance while drivingMaintain accurate internal records, including but not limited to:Verifying loads with shipping papersFollowing and maintaining documentation per SFI's Animal Food Safety PlanUtilize available technology to promote the availability of proper and timely production dataMaintain accurate DOT paperwork according to state and federal regulations, including but not limited to:Ensure cargo and truck equipment are secureConduct pre- and post-inspection(s) of truck(s), including adequate fuel and oil levels, as well as properly functioning brakes, windshield wipers, and lights Inspect fire extinguisher and other safety equipment regularlyIdentify gaps and areas of opportunities for annual DOT inspections, etc.Perform necessary functions at delivery sites, such as:Load and unload bulk feedClean up spilled feedReport to Feed Mill Manager when equipment does not work or is missingPerform emergency roadside repairs when necessaryMaintain truck/trailer so it is ready for use and deployment, including but not limited to:Wash truck/trailer per SFI protocolsFollow SFI biosecurity procedures at mill and delivery sitesPerform minor repairs on truck/trailer, when necessaryStakeholder relationsCollaborate with Feed Mill Manager and staff, introducing best practices, being adaptable to changing environments, etc.Promote Schwartz Farms, including but not limited to delivery sites, fuel stations, etc.Additional DutiesComplete roadside repairs when necessaryMaintain truck/trailer so it is ready for use and deployment, including but not limited to:Wash truck/trailer per SFI protocolsFollow SFI biosecurity procedures at mill and delivery sitesPerform minor repairs on truck/trailer, when necessaryStakeholder relationsCollaborate with Feed Mill Manager and staff, introducing best practices, being adaptable to changing environments, etc.Promote Schwartz Farms, including but not limited to delivery sites, fuel stations, etc.Additional DutiesDemonstrate Schwartz Farms' values of integrity, respect, excellence and adaptabilityAdvocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuseMaintain and promote a safe working environmentThe preceding statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned this classification.
