The location in Hawesville, (Kentucky, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Bleached Pulp Mill Shift Supervisor. This job is full-time permanent.

Reporting to the Superintendent of the Bleach Pulp Mill/Power & Recovery Departments, the overall function of the Shift Supervisor position is to coordinate the safe, cost-effective operation of the Fiberline/Power &Recovery area at the mill's sustaining rate; operate the area so that environmental compliance is maintained; coordinate between maintenance and operations on equipment repairs and outages; as well as proper handling of the labor force within the confines of the union contract. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Proactive Safety Leader and Champions Domtar Safety Principles: All incidents are preventable; our commitment to safety is based on caring; line management is responsible and accountable for employee and contractor safety; we are personally accountable for our own safety; safety is a condition of employment.

Actively engaging workforce to collaborate for continuous improvement and business results

Represents Domtar with honesty and integrity in all matters, including safety policy and PPE compliance

Assigning, reviewing and planning work for crews and all maintenance support

Resolving union disagreement and grievances at the first level

Set expectations, manage crew and individual performance, and implement plans to continually improved performance: Conduct performance evaluations and develop improvement plans for hourly employees; utilize both positive reinforcement as well as disciplinary action to manage performance; maintain positive, proactive culture and healthy working relationships within crew

Develop and manage training of the hourly team including new employee orientation to the department

A personal dedication to safety, including proactive support of efforts to create a culture of safety excellence

Team player; can work as part of a team or in an independent setting

Good communicator at all levels of organization to include listening, writing and presenting

Demonstrated commitment to work within and create a safe and healthy work environment

Your profile:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent  Minimum of ten (10) years of Pulp or Power Experience OR three (3) years of Pulp or Power experience with a degree in Engineering (i.e. Paper, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical).  
Knowledge of effective safety practices and demonstrated capability of moving safety culture forward
Good leadership, communication, analytical, planning, and organizational skills
Demonstrated people development skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Knowledge of effective maintenance practices
SAP knowledge
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.) experience
Competency with information databases
