Job description

David Nice Builders is seeking an experienced and hands-on Project Manager for our Millwork Division. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for complex custom millwork and fabrication projects, managing them from concept through completion. You will oversee planning, scheduling, procurement, shop drawings, production coordination, quality control, and shipping logistics to deliver high-quality products that meet exact customer specifications.
This is a dynamic, multi-project role that requires strong technical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining clear communication with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams. You will be deeply involved in every phase of the project - from initial proposals and drawings to shop floor oversight and final delivery.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Plant Operations Manager, this position offers the opportunity to lead premium millwork projects and play a key role in the continued growth of our division.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main liaison with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors throughout the entire project lifecycle
  • Manage full project execution - including planning, scheduling, procurement, fabrication, and shipping
  • Develop proposals, budgets, and timelines; track costs and ensure projects stay on budget and schedule
  • Oversee the creation of accurate shop drawings in collaboration with CAD Design Engineers
  • Conduct site visits for field measurements and template creation when required
  • Manage long-lead items and specialty procurement to prevent delays
  • Perform regular quality inspections on the shop floor and ensure all work meets specifications and industry standards
  • Coordinate shipping and logistics, including hands-on support during loading when needed
  • Proactively identify risks, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, change orders, and records
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives

What You Bring (Qualifications)
Required:
  • 5+ years of project management experience in custom millwork, architectural woodworking, or fabrication
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, budgets, and schedules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and construction/project management software
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management abilities
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to perform occasional site visits

Preferred:
  • Direct experience in custom millwork, casework, or architectural woodwork
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of building codes and industry best practices
