Job description

Position Summary

We're seeking a customer-focused Sales Engineer to develop and grow business by selling custom industrial manufacturing equipment and engineered solutions. In this role, you'll work closely with customers to understand their manufacturing needs, prepare technical proposals and quotations, collaborate with engineering teams, and manage projects through the sales cycle. You'll also help identify new business opportunities, build long-term customer relationships, and provide support throughout the sales process.

Primary ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned markets.
  • Prepare quotations and technical sales proposals in collaboration with engineering and internal sales teams.
  • Review customer requirements and contracts to identify additional sales opportunities.
  • Evaluate project risks and profitability before submitting proposals.
  • Deliver professional sales presentations and recommend customized equipment solutions.
  • Prepare pricing and cost estimates while meeting company profitability goals.
  • Visit customer facilities to strengthen relationships and identify future business opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals while effectively managing your assigned territory.
  • Maintain accurate customer activity and opportunity information within the CRM system.
  • Support customers after the sale by working with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
Engineering & Proposal Support
  • Work closely with engineering teams to develop equipment concepts and technical solutions.
  • Prepare proposal drawings and equipment layouts using CAD software.
  • Assist in developing creative solutions that meet customer manufacturing requirements.
  • Gather technical information from engineering and manufacturing teams to support equipment proposals.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate sales documentation and customer records.
  • Support trade shows, customer visits, marketing activities, and other sales initiatives.
  • Complete additional administrative and project-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of Sales Engineer or technical industrial sales experience.
  • Experience selling industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, engineered systems, or capital equipment is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the metal forming, roll forming, tube mill, or industrial manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand engineering concepts, manufacturing processes, and technical drawings.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to both small and large customer groups.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals, quotations, and sales presentations.
  • Ability to understand engineering principles and collaborate with technical teams.
  • Experience developing new customer accounts and managing sales territories is preferred.
