Job Title: Civil & Commercial Sales Engineer - West Coast
Location: West Coast (CA Bay Area, NV or AZ preferred) – Remote/In-Territory

Position Summary / Objective

CMI Sheet Piling is seeking a driven, technically capable Commercial & Civil Sales Engineer to lead business development and project sales efforts across the West Coast. This role blends technical sales, business development, and project support, focused on expanding CMI’s presence in civil infrastructure and commercial construction markets.
The ideal candidate understands how to sell into complex construction projects. They are comfortable working with contractors on installation and pricing, while also reviewing plans, understanding specifications, and engaging engineers in technical discussions.

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and execute a territory growth strategy focused on civil and commercial construction markets
  • Identify, track, and pursue project opportunities from early design through construction
  • Build relationships with engineering firms, contractors, and public agencies
  • Expand CMI’s footprint with new customers while strengthening existing relationships
  • Manage pipeline and maintain accurate forecasting

Technical Sales & Project Support

  • Review project plans and specifications to identify opportunities
  • Provide technical guidance on sheet pile systems and installation methods
  • Support customers with budget pricing, takeoffs, and preliminary design coordination
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams
  • Assist with bid strategy and contractor support

Presentations & Industry Engagement

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to engineers and contractors
  • Conduct lunch & learns and educational sessions
  • Represent CMI at industry events and trade shows

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Track competitive landscape and regional activity
  • Provide customer feedback to guide product development
  • Identify strategic opportunities in infrastructure and environmental markets

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial or civil construction or related role
  • Strong understanding of plans, specs, and project lifecycle
  • Experience working with contractors and/or engineering firms
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and drive sales growth
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Business, Sales, Marketing, or related fields. A technical engineering degree is preferred, but not required for candidates with strong, relevant experience in the construction industry. Equivalent field experience will be considered.
  • Experience delivering technical presentations or lunch & learns
  • Background in deep foundations, marine, or geotechnical applications
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce, Hubspot or similar)
