Job Summary:
Urban SDK is shaping the Future of Smart Cities by providing geospatial AI technology for public leaders. The Sales Engineer role involves supporting the Revenue Team in selling a data-driven SaaS platform to government and public-sector organizations, focusing on transportation safety and operations, while blending technical expertise with customer interaction.
Responsibilities:
• Partner closely with Account Executives across the full sales cycle, from discovery through close
• Serve as the technical expert during sales calls, demos, and procurement conversations
• Support implementation processes with clear, credible technical input
• Lead live product demonstrations tailored to customer-specific geographies, corridors, and use cases
• Showcase Urban SDK’s platform modules, including speed data, traffic analytics, safety insights, and automated workflows
• Translate complex data into clear outcomes for transportation engineers, planners, public works teams, law enforcement officials, and city/county leaders
• Connect traffic, safety, and planning concepts to real-world platform use cases
• Explain data sources, methodologies, and validation in a way that builds trust with public agencies
• Answer technical questions related to GIS layers, dashboards, reporting, and analytics workflows
• Ensure clean technical handoffs from Sales to Implementation
• Share customer feedback with Product and Implementation teams
• Contribute to demo best practices and sales enablement materials
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3–7+ years of experience in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Technical Pre-Sales role within a SaaS environment
• Experience supporting sales to government, municipal, or public-sector customers
• Working knowledge of GIS concepts (spatial data, mapping, visualization)
• Strong ability to demo software to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Excellent communication skills and comfort in customer-facing roles
Preferred:
• Background in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, civil engineering, or urban/transportation planning
• Experience with transportation analytics, traffic safety, mobility data, or smart city technology
• Familiarity with Vision Zero, Safe Streets for All, traffic calming, or related initiatives
• Exposure to public-sector procurement processes
