The Manufacturing Team Leader role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the production process within a manufacturing facility. This role involves managing a team of operators and technicians to ensure efficient workflow, adherence to safety standards, and high-quality output. The Team Leader will facilitate communication between management and team members, monitor production schedules, and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

How You'll Create Possibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
The responsibility of the Manufacturing Team Leader role can include but not be limited to the following:
  • Work with VSLs and associates to ensure work is performed safely and within EHS guidelines.
  • Ensure all operators have PPE & provide coaching feedback when non-compliance is observed.
  • Report any unsafe hazards or conditions to VSL/EHS Rep & help resolve the issues.
  • Coordinate employees and jobs to prevent incidents from becoming injuries.
  • Utilize ergonomic principles/guidelines to reduce chance of illness/injury.
  • Set example and lead employees in keeping work areas clean & orderly.
  • Responsible for monitoring/communicating any process, assembly or product abnormalities to VSL.
  • Ensure inspections are performed & equipment is in good working order.
  • Utilize 6S tools to maintain area.
  • ~ Escalate issues to VSL, safety, quality, materials, maintenance and production.
  • Coordinate and perform training for new//current employees as well as clarifying proper work procedures.
  • Lead team efforts to collect and analyze data to improve quality, downtime and efficiency in the department.
  • Use Hour by Hour charts to report, track and communicate production yields and numbers.
  • Know & utilize work order process & communicate with maintenance for needs & priorities.
  • Be an active team player serving as a backup for other team roles.
  • Become familiar with all support areas to assist/cover VSL as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned as we continue to grow in our Lean Journey.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of previous manufacturing experience in a leadership role such as a team lead role and demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes & equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize in fast-paced environments.
  • Familiar and can use Microsoft Office tools: WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK.
  • Must be reliable and willing to work overtime, weekends and shutdowns as required to meet business needs.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
Desired Characteristics:
  • Associate's Degree or some college education
  • Prior assembly or production experience in fast paced, high volume manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred
  • Prior experience assembling mechanical components
  • Knowledge of safe shop operation practices
  • Ability to identify maintenance issues with machinery or equipment
