Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
This clerk sorts all incoming letter mail, keeps various mail tallies, sorts address corrections and flyer labels; will also help post mail and deliver items of moderate to heavy weights internally. They must learn names and departments of associates to sort correctly and quickly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Sorts all incoming letter mail from the Post Office for both Bass Pro and Tracker Marine.
  • Maintains counts of incoming mail pieces and flyer requests.
  • Separates flyer requests by key codes and count into groups for order entry.
  • Maintains counts of Business Reply Cards and address corrections.
  • Separates all foreign orders from regular orders.
  • Hand logs expedited parcels and/or letters. Delivers same to appropriate department or person obtaining a signature upon delivery.
  • Shares responsibility for keeping copy paper stocked on the Mail Mobile and for sending the Mail Mobile out at its scheduled times.
  • Learns associates names and department names, who wants mail opened and who does not in order to sort correctly and quickly.
  • Writes down driver requests for drivers and contact drivers if necessary.
  • Helps load and unload the Mail Mobile.
  • Signs for and contacts associates for floral deliveries.
  • Helps deliver cases of copy paper, storage boxes, items from the warehouse to various departments.
  • Helps fill in for Mail Center Clerk in absences or daily work.
  • Shares the responsibility of calling Airborne or DHL for pick ups and for notifying supervisor of equipment problems or problems the Mail Mobile track.
  • Prepares company mail packets for transport to the warehouse truck at SDC and UPS and FedX shipments for transport to the warehouse, checking for correct information and signatures.
  • Pulls mail for out laying stores and places in red staging bins.
  • Learns all carriers; their rates and requirements; and their forms.
  • Knows what mail can be presorted and what can not be presorted.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Local travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Will be lifting moderate to heavy packages in and out of mail carts or pallets; and delivering the same to departments.
  • Operates machinery including; the mail opener, postage machine, and the mail mobile.
  • Must have presentable attire, as deliveries are made throughout the General Offices.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
