OVERVIEW: The SOCNORTH logistics operations planner is an accomplished joint logistician who comfortable operating independently with intent and guidance, and comfortable integrating into a dynamic operations environment to provide all functions of logistics and service support planning.
GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Plan, organize, and direct logistics operations.
  • Assist in the integration of logistics requirements with Geographic Combatant Command (GCC) level exercise, campaign, posture and contingency plans.
  • Assist the J4 Director by providing oversight and facilitation of all subordinate element logistics and deployment requirements for CONUS and OCONUS requirements in close coordination with the sourcing component logistics and mobility sections.
  • Developing logistics support to special operations and integration with N/NC numbered plans and support to OPLANS of other Combatant Commands as a SOF Logistics SME on SOCNORTH integrated operations teams, as well as contingency Operational Planning Teams by providing plan inputs, plan reviews, and rapid planning support.
  • Serve as lead exercise planner for joint exercises requiring the coordination of concept, initial, mid and final planning conferences.
  • Research and analyze component command logistics standards and policies for implementation and integration for SOCNORTH use.
  • Schedule and coordinate meeting times among invitees, reserve the meeting location, establish and coordinate agendas, identify the person to conduct the meeting and distribute invitations with read-ahead products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 12-15 years of experience in general military logistics planning with
  • 2-3 years logistics experience in the special forces community.
  • Have expert knowledge and experience applying Joint Logistics (JP 4.0) and/or service equivalent publications and integrating logistics requirements into the operational planning process as outlined in Joint Planning (JP 5.0) or service equivalent such as Military Decision Making Process (MDMP)/Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP)/Naval Planning Process (NWP).
  • Have expert knowledge of multimodal transportation methods.
  • Must be able to plan, coordinate and supervise logistics support to special operations at the GS-13/Intermediate-level within an operational, theater-level headquarters.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience as a member of a Crisis Response Team or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting operations at a Theater Special Operations Command (TSOC) or Combatant Command (COCOM) level.
  • Experience supporting operations for Counter Terrorism (CT), Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD), Countering Transnational Criminal Organizations (CTOC), Theater Security Cooperation (TSC), Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA), and Homeland Defense (HD).
