The positions shall be filled in one of the following State Fund locations: Bakersfield, Eureka, Fresno, Glendale, Oxnard, Pasadena, Pleasanton, Redding, Rohnert Park, Sacramento, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Stockton, or Vacaville.
Are you a dynamic, innovative leader ready to take on an exciting and challenging Claims Manager role at State Fund? State Fund's Claims department has openings for Claims Managers in both our Insured and State Contracts programs. In this pivotal leadership position, you'll oversee multiple claims teams, drive operational excellence and develop the next generation of claims leaders.
As a Claims Manager, you'll manage and mentor frontline claims supervisors, building their capabilities to effectively guide their teams, set strategic direction for claims handling quality, ensure consistent outcomes across multiple units as well as analyze trends, metrics, and outcomes to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
The successful candidates will be team builders and leaders with proven technical expertise and the ability to work cooperatively, yet independently. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by leading teams that help injured workers recover and return to work, while supporting California employers and agencies through the claims process.
This position requires the ability to:
  • Lead and develop first-level managers to achieve results through others, ensure the delivery of high-quality claims outcomes through effective oversight and accountability, and foster high levels of employee engagement across teams.
  • Manage (plan, organize, direct and control) units responsible for proactively adjusting, finalizing and controlling claim assignments and/or (a) specialized assignment(s)
  • Ensure good customer service is provided to both internal and external customers
  • Balance empathy and accountability
  • Ensure timely and accurate liability decisions and benefit provisions
  • Ensure timely, current, accurate, and adequate estimates and case documentation to protect the fiscal integrity of State Fund
  • Manage and coordinate special projects
  • Develop and oversee implementation of strategic and budgetary goals
  • Promote coordination and consistency among various adjusting locations
  • Contribute to projects and resolving claims related issues

Special Requirements
Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits.
