Manthei Wood Products in Petoskey, Michigan is looking for a HR Generalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands that accuracy matters, and enjoys supporting employees behind the scenes. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR functions, including team members relations, policy administration, training and development, benefits, compliance, and performance management. The HR Generalist also assists other administrative staff with daily operations and a wide range of support tasks.

This position is full-time, 8 hours a day, and onsite in Petoskey.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

HR Administration amp; Compliance

  • Maintain team member records and assist with benefits administration ( enrollments, changes, amp; terminations)

  • Assist with performance management, employee engagement initiatives, and HR-related communications

  • Assist with company meetings, trainings, and events including open enrollment

  • Manage team member care in the areas of wellness support and break room management

  • Assist HR manager with applying and maintaining records for grant opportunities around new jobs, apprenticeships, internships, employee housing, etc.

Recruiting amp; Onboarding Support

  • Post job openings

  • Screen candidates and schedule interviews

  • Assist with onboarding and new hire paperwork

Administrative amp; Office Support
  • Support the administrative staff (primarily HR and Finance) with day-to-day office tasks and special assignments
  • Assist with clerical duties including filing, copying, scanning, data entry, and document preparation
  • Assist with collecting and processing credit card receipts for various administrative staff
  • Manage office supplies, pantries, and common areas keeping them stocked, organized, and clean
Front Desk amp; Communication
  • Greet and assist visitors, delivering a professional and welcoming experience
  • Answer and transfer incoming phone calls promptly and accurately
  • Assist with mail, packages, and general front-desk inquiries

Qualifications
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience in an administrative role
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality

  • Proficient in Google Suite and/or Microsoft products

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
