Overview
Duration: August 2026 - May 2027 (Possible extentioon through 2027 Summer)
The HR Apprentice will gain hands-on experince across multiple HR funtions while supporting the HR team. The apprenticeship is designed to provide exposure to talent acquisition, employee relations, onboarding, training and development, HR compliance and HR operations. The apprentice will work closely with HR leadership to develop practical skills and knowledge in the field of Human Resources.
History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation.
Responsibilities include working with incoming data, filing, creating spreadsheets. General clerical duties required and assistance to staff as needed. Applicant will perform diverse duties with minimal supervision; type, proofread, files data entry. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the HR Apprentice consist of, but are not limited to the following:
  • Serves as part-time clerical support to the HR department.
  • Coordinate spreadsheets
  • Will follow through and complete all required paperwork and/or documentation.
  • Drafts memos, letters and other correspondence as requested.
  • Assist with maintaining the applicant tracking system.
  • Screen resumes and coordinate candidate interviews.
  • Participate in hiring events, career fairs, and recruitment initiatives.
  • Maintain and scan employee records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Particiapte in HR projects focused on process improvement, employee engagement, and organizational development.
  • Assist with research and presentations related to HR best practices.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a dgree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Development or a related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent command of the English language and strong grammatical knowledge.
