Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Human Factors Engineer - User Experience (T02 level) / Human Factors Principal Engineer - User Experience (T03 level). This position is located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, Alabama and supports the Sentinel program.
What You'll Get To Do:
The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a User Experience (UX) Engineer to join the team supporting activities including use case development, defining workflows, conducting user assessments, developing prototypes, delivering MVPs to product teams, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting UX design artifacts
  • Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design
  • Completing heuristic assessments of products
  • Create wireframes and user interface designs
  • Author/support the program documentation of the HFE processes and products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions (e.g. Human Engineering Design Approach Document - Operator (HEDAD-O))

Basic Qualifications
This requisition may be filled at either the Engineer level (T-02) or Principal Engineer level (T-03).
Required for Both Levels:
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Demonstrated experience applying UX design principles to Department of Defense programs
  • Demonstrated experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user interface designs, and/or other UX products
  • UX Design Portfolio showcasing technical and artistic capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to segment, program and customer community

Engineer (T02 Level):
  • Educational background in psychology, human factors, user experience, graphic design, industrial design, or HCI-related field from an accredited university, and at least 2 years of related experience with a Bachelors; OR at least 1 Years of relevant experience with a Masters degree

Principal Engineer (T03 Level):
  • Educational background in psychology, human factors, user experience, graphic design, industrial design, or HCI-related field from an accredited university, and at least 5 years of related experience with a bachelors; OR at least 3 Years of relevant experience with a master's degree; OR 1 Year with a PhD degree

Preferred Qualification
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
  • Experience with Human Factors in a defense contracting environment (familiarity with Mil-Std-1472G and ANSI/HFES 100-2007)
  • Experience with Axure
  • Experience in HF test environment
  • Experience in fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
