Job description

About 1X
We're building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it's not.
To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you're inspired by this, you'll thrive here. We've been at this since 2014 and we're at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.
NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We're not demoing it - we're shipping it. We're excited to meet you, if this excites you.
If you've spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We're scaling, we're hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all.
About the Team
The Talent team is responsible for building the organization that will build the future of humanoid robotics. We partner closely with leaders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Corporate functions to identify, attract, and hire exceptional talent capable of solving some of the world's most difficult technical and operational challenges.
Talent plays a critical role in 1X's ability to scale. Every hire shapes our culture, raises our technical bar, and accelerates our mission. The team operates with urgency, high standards, and deep partnership to ensure the right people are in the right roles at the right time.
Your Charter
The Talent team is responsible for ensuring 1X can attract, assess, and hire the people required to scale humanoid robotics from research and development through global production. As the company grows, Talent sits directly on the critical path by enabling organizational growth, strengthening hiring quality, and ensuring teams can scale without compromising performance or culture.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineering Recruiter, you will help build the engineering organization responsible for designing and delivering the systems that power NEO. You will partner closely with hiring managers across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering to identify exceptional talent, drive efficient hiring processes, and ensure 1X continues to raise the bar with every hire.
Key Outcomes
  • Deliver high-quality hires across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering functions while maintaining exceptional candidate and hiring manager experiences.
  • Build and maintain strong talent pipelines that reduce time-to-fill and improve hiring predictability across critical engineering roles.
  • Establish trusted partnerships with engineering leaders and provide data-driven guidance throughout the hiring process.
  • Improve recruiting effectiveness through sourcing innovation, interview calibration, process improvements, and talent market insights.
  • Help ensure hiring decisions consistently align with 1X's technical standards, organizational needs, and long-term growth objectives.

Key Competencies
  • Strong full-cycle recruiter with experience supporting technical and engineering hiring.
  • Skilled talent sourcer capable of identifying and engaging hard-to-reach engineering talent.
  • Trusted business partner who builds credibility with hiring managers and influences hiring decisions through data and judgment.
  • Highly organized operator capable of managing multiple searches simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Curious learner with a genuine interest in understanding engineering disciplines, technical organizations, and emerging technologies.

Minimum Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience recruiting mechanical, electrical, hardware, systems, or related engineering talent.
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle recruiting processes from sourcing through offer acceptance.
  • Experience partnering directly with hiring managers and supporting technical interview processes.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience recruiting within robotics, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or other hardware-focused industries.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary engineering organizations and systems-level product development.
  • Experience supporting high-growth startup environments.
  • Experience using advanced sourcing techniques and talent market mapping strategies.
  • Experience building recruiting processes, interview frameworks, or talent programs.

What Does a Successful 1X Team Member Look Like?
Team members at 1X who thrive here are builders. They move fast, own their work completely, and treat time like it's the one thing you can't get back - because it is. They say what they mean, finish what they start, and hold themselves to a standard before anyone has to ask. We push each other to be better, and we do it with honesty and respect.
Compensation Range
$110,000 - $186,000 per year
Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave
  • 401(k) plan with company match (100% on the first 3% of contributions, 50% on the next 2%)
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) options
  • Commuter benefits (transit and parking)
  • Short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health, financial, and personal support
  • Onsite snacks and catered lunches
