Job description

Director, Sourcing - Sportwear Production

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

True Religion is an urban casual lifestyle brand focused on high-quality denim, activewear, accessories, and more-for men, women, and kids. Founded in 2002, we shook up the Los Angeles denim scene by re-engineering the classic five-pocket jean with our signature Super T Stitch and iconic horseshoe detailing-now synonymous with bold, unapologetic style and the True Religion legacy. Driven by a relentless commitment to craftsmanship, we design with one goal in mind: to stand out from the crowd. We don't just create denim-we give it attitude, authenticity, and individuality.

THE PURPOSE:

As the Director of Sourcing, you will drive global strategies that deliver the right product at the right cost, with the right quality, on time-every time. This role leads sourcing with a focus on speed, agility, and commercial results, owning cost negotiations, vendor performance, and risk management across a diversified supply base. This role is responsible for identifying and onboarding new vendors that can deliver products at a lower cost without compromising quality or speed. A key cross-functional leader, this role ensures full calendar alignment to keep development and production on track. Additionally, the Director is accountable for building, developing, and training a best-in-class sourcing team, creating a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role translates brand vision into sourcing execution that fuels growth, protects margin, and elevates product value.

THE ROLE (what you are accountable for):

  • Define and execute a global sourcing strategy that delivers measurable cost savings while maintaining quality, compliance, and speed-to-market standards.

  • Lead supplier negotiations and vendor optimization initiatives to reduce the total cost of ownership and strengthen long-term strategic partnerships.

  • Diversify and strengthen the global vendor base to mitigate supply chain risk and increase agility and resilience.

  • Ensure consistent on-time delivery by driving cross-functional calendar alignment and accountability across sourcing and production workflows.

  • Oversee end-to-end sourcing operations, including supplier onboarding, order execution, compliance, and KPI management across cost, quality, and delivery.

  • Own sourcing financial performance, including budgeting, cost modeling, benchmarking, and reporting on savings and margin impact.

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing sourcing team, elevating talent, accountability, and execution standards.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Merchandising, Operations, and Finance to align sourcing strategies with broader business objectives and growth plans.

  • Drive continuous improvement across processes, systems, reporting tools, and vendor performance management.

  • Serve as a key member of the Supply Chain leadership team, contributing to enterprise planning and strategic decision-making.

YOU ARE:

A strategic and commercially minded sourcing leader who thrives in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments. You balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution and bring both analytical rigor and strong negotiation instincts. You are fearless in driving cost improvements, disciplined in operational execution, and confident in influencing cross-functional and executive stakeholders. You build strong vendor partnerships without compromising accountability, and you develop teams that consistently perform at a high level. You understand how sourcing decisions impact margin, product integrity, brand positioning, and long-term business health.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Apparel Production, Sourcing, and/or Supply Chain leadership roles

  • Proven experience in developing and executing global sourcing strategies

  • Demonstrated success in negotiating complex supplier agreements and delivering measurable cost savings

  • Deep knowledge of apparel manufacturing, fabric and garment construction, testing protocols, and global production timelines

  • Experience building and diversifying global vendor networks

  • Strong financial acumen, including cost modeling, margin analysis, and forecasting

  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Ability to manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment

  • Experience in sportswear or performance apparel categories

  • Background working within vertically integrated or DTC-focused retail organizations

  • Experience with PLM, ERP, and sourcing management systems
