Job Description
Position Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Reports To: Site Director/General Manager
Position Type: Salaried Exempt
Hours per week: 40+
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, Flex Friday Schedule
Department: Product Engineering
Orientation Period: 90 days

Position Summary:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering and Product Engineering functions to support safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. This role oversees product industrialization, process development, continuous improvement initiatives, and engineering support activities while ensuring alignment with customer requirements, operational goals, and company standards.
The Engineering Manager partners closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and international engineering teams to support product launches, process optimization, and ongoing manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Product Engineering
  • Lead the adaptation and implementation of product design packages from global engineering teams to ensure successful industrialization and production readiness.
  • Manage product validation activities to ensure compliance with customer specifications, technical requirements, and internal quality standards prior to production launch.
  • Support new product development and engineering changes through collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate product feasibility, manufacturing risks, and process impacts associated with design modifications and engineering changes.
  • Coordinate engineering change requests (ECRs) and ensure timely implementation of approved changes.
  • Serve as a technical resource for production, quality, and customer-related issues involving existing products.
Manufacturing Engineering
  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Design and maintain efficient production workflows, tooling, and manufacturing layouts to maximize labor utilization and material flow.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Support automation and process enhancement projects to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and process performance to identify opportunities for productivity improvements and cost reduction.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations teams to support equipment reliability, uptime, and production performance.
  • Oversee process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing standards to ensure consistency and compliance.
Method and Industrialization:
  • Lead the industrialization phase, from technical feasibility studies to full-scale production validation.
  • Design robust workflows and production layouts to optimize material flow and labor utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process automation and energy-efficient solutions.
Industrialization amp; New Product Launch
  • Lead industrialization activities from feasibility studies through production validation and launch readiness.
  • Coordinate cross-functional launch activities to ensure successful transition from development to production.
  • Support prototype builds, testing activities, and process validation for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to align manufacturing capabilities and technical requirements.
  • Ensure production readiness through process capability studies, tooling validation, and operator training.
Compliance amp; Quality Systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including ITAR and customer-specific requirements where applicable.
  • Support compliance with ISO and IATF quality management systems across engineering and manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities to maintain operational and quality standards.
  • Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Leadership amp; Team Development
  • Lead and develop Manufacturing Engineering and Product Engineering team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Establish clear goals, priorities, and expectations aligned with company objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment focused on innovation and accountability.
  • Support employee development through training, succession planning, and continuous learning opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Finance, and Customer Service teams to align engineering priorities with business objectives.
  • Act as a key technical contact for customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with international engineering and R amp;D teams to support product development, process improvements, and technical alignment.
  • Communicate engineering priorities, project status, risks, and performance metrics to leadership.
Key Deliverables
  • Successful launch and industrialization of new products and engineering changes.
  • Improved manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and process capability.
  • Reduction in scrap, downtime, and operational waste through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Effective management of engineering projects, timelines, and capital expenditures.
  • Maintenance of regulatory, customer, and quality system compliance.
  • Development of a high-performing engineering team that supports operational excellence and long-term business growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 4+ years in a leadership or management capacity preferred.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, and industrialization processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Problem Solving and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with ISO/IATF quality systems and regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
