Job description

BSA is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Engineering to lead our national engineering discipline, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low voltage technology. In this role, you will drive technical excellence and performance across projects that support healing, learning, and discovery. You’ll partner closely with architecture, interior design, and planning teams to deliver high-quality, integrated solutions while shaping the future of engineering at BSA.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee national engineering operations, including staffing, project delivery, and financial performance.
  • Lead, manage, and hold Engineering Leads accountable, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
  • Ensure consistent execution of core project delivery processes, driving quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Align discipline capacity with project demand, managing utilization, revenue, and growth.
  • Partner with firm leadership to identify hiring needs and build a strong, future-ready talent pipeline.
  • Mentor and develop staff, placing the right people in the right roles to support career growth and project success.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across the discipline.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering; professional licensure required.
  • 15+ years of experience in the A/E industry, and proven discipline leadership experience.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to manage performance metrics such as utilization, profitability, and project delivery.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative, accountable leadership style with an ownership mindset.
