Position Overview: The Culinary Instructor at The Arc Ontario leads the development and daily operation of the Training Kitchen Initiative, creating a structured culinary training program that helps individuals build realโ€‘world food service skills and prepare for competitive employment. This role designs curriculum, establishes training pathways, provides handsโ€‘on instruction in cooking, safety, and kitchen operations, and adapts learning experiences to meet individual needs. The Culinary Instructor also builds partnerships with employers and community organizations, supports program growth, maintains a safe and compliant kitchen environment, tracks participant progress, and completes all required documentation.   • Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive culinary training program that reflects industry standards and real-world food service environments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local employers, community partners, and industry professionals to support program development and job placement opportunities.
  • Participate in professional development, in-service training, and required certifications to remain current with industry and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in the Culinary Arts or related field and one year of full-time experience in the culinary/hospitality industry as a chef and/or baker or equivalent education and experience
  • Plus one year full-time direct service experience working with individuals with a disability is preferred.
  • Have experience as an instructor of a culinary program and have high degree of technical ability to relay information in a manner that provides a positive learning experience and instills a passion for the profession. Possess the administrative and technological skills adequate to build course materials and have the ability to demonstrate concern and sensitivity toward culinary trainees and their individual needs and learning styles.
  • ServSafe Certified and Proctor Status preferred. If not obtained by time of hire, must obtain status within six months of employment.
  • NYS License Required.
