DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position guides inmate workers in daily food service operations and teaches essential vocational skills for food production and preparation.

As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties: Food Service Instruction: Teach inmates how to prepare, produce, serve, and bake food while following safe and sanitary practices Safety Oversight: Inspect food areas, tools, equipment, and products to ensure they meet required safety and sanitation standards Supply Management: Review census and menu information, adjust recipes, recycle leftover food, and manage food and supply inventories Work Assignment Planning: Plan inmate work tasks, evaluate performance, and maintain all required inmate worker records Care and Custody: Maintain care and control over inmates during work assignments and exercise physical intervention if necessary Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours/week Work hours and days off to be determined.

Hours will be either 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM OR 4:45 AM to 12:45 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
