Job description

Houston Methodist Hospital, consistently ranked the #1 hospital system in Texas by U.S. News & World Report, is seeking a Classical (Benign) Hematologist to join our renowned Hematology Division within the Department of Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to practice in a thriving academic medical center located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center-one of the largest and most comprehensive medical campuses in the world.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient-centered Classical (Benign) Hematologist to diagnose, treat, and manage non-malignant hematologic disorders. This role is ideal for a physician who is passionate about providing high-quality, evidence-based care and contributing to research and education in a dynamic academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of benign hematologic conditions, including anemia, clotting disorders, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and thrombophilia.

  • Perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and blood transfusions when clinically indicated.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans informed by the latest clinical guidelines.

  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care.

  • Educate patients and families about their condition, treatment options, and long-term management strategies.

  • Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects.

  • Contribute to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency

  • Fellowship training in Hematology or Hematology/Oncology with a focus in benign hematologic disorders

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Hematology

  • Eligible for a Texas medical license
