Correspondence Specialist

The mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is to foster strong communities by supporting access to quality, affordable housing, expanding the housing supply, and unlocking homeownership opportunities for the American people. The Department is committed to furthering the promise of self-sufficiency in every American while promoting economic development to revitalize rural, tribal, and urban communities across the country. The Office of Housing provides vital public services through its nationally administered programs. It oversees the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the largest mortgage insurer in the world, and regulates important parts of the housing industry. The Office of Housing is committed to building and preserving healthy neighborhoods and communities through homeownership, rental housing and healthcare opportunities.

As a Correspondence Specialist, you will:

  • Perform performing administrative and/or program support work related to correspondence/FOIA control and review, such as planning, research, analysis, communication, clearance, and/or liaison. Guides staff, assigns work, establishes priorities and provides training for Departmental staff.
  • Manage and/or prepare responses to correspondence of the Office of Housing; and/or acts as a liaison or handles the communication with persons and/or groups within and outside of the organization under the supervision of the Supervisory Correspondence Specialist.
  • Serve as primary liaison between the Office and program offices and office staff.
