CONVENTION SERVICES MANAGER
Reports To: Sales & Marketing/Catering Directors Department: Sales & Marketing
Classification: Full Time Division: Hotel Sales
JOB SUMMARY:
The Convention Services Manager is responsible for ensuring that all client's needs are met for banquets. This includes fulfilling requests, answering questions, and working with other departments to ensure 100% satisfaction.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide groups with exceptional service assisting with and anticipating all needs
  • Ensure meeting rooms are properly set up prior to each event
  • Check that the food set out for the banquet reflects the BEO accurately
  • Communicate with guests and act as liaison between guests and other departments to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior Food and Beverage or Banquets experience preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Must be reliable, detail and service oriented, responsible, and work as part of a team
  • Ability to serve others and solve problems quickly
  • Must have excellent computer and communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and ask for help when necessary

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to remain on feet standing or walking for long periods of time serving guests
  • Ability to lift and move tables, chairs and heavy trays up to 20 pounds
