Job description

SkyOne Federal Credit Union is seeking a Business Development Manager (Sales & Business Development Manager) to drive membership growth, increase deposits, and expand business banking relationships through strategic outreach and partnership development. In this key leadership role, you'll cultivate and strengthen relationships with Select Employee Groups (SEGs), businesses, associations, nonprofit organizations, and community partners, while supporting the continued growth of our Business Banking and Cannabis Banking portfolios.

As a leader, you'll guide and develop a high-performing Business Development team, creating new opportunities that enhance member value and drive sustainable growth. Combining strategic vision, relationship-building expertise, and sales leadership, you'll ensure exceptional execution, regulatory compliance, and a member-first approach that advances SkyOne's mission and business objectives.

WHAT MATTERS MOST

Driving sustainable growth through strategic business development, membership expansion, and deposit growth is at the heart of this role. Success means building and strengthening relationships with Select Employee Groups (SEGs), businesses, associations, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to generate new membership opportunities and expand SkyOne's Business Banking and Cannabis Banking portfolios.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, relationship-driven leader who excels at networking, prospecting, and cultivating partnerships that enhance brand visibility and drive measurable results. Equally important is the ability to develop, coach, and inspire Business Relationship Managers to achieve ambitious sales and service goals while delivering exceptional member experiences.

By executing growth strategies that deepen relationships, increase wallet share, and create long-term value for members, this role plays a critical part in advancing SkyOne's strategic objectives, strengthening community presence, and supporting the Credit Union's continued success.

A TYPICAL DAY AS A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

This role is responsible for driving external business development efforts that expand membership, grow deposits, and strengthen business banking relationships. The Business Development Manager serves as a visible ambassador for SkyOne, meeting with prospective and existing Select Employee Groups (SEGs), businesses, associations, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to identify opportunities, deepen relationships, and generate new business.

Success in this role requires a proactive approach to networking, prospecting, and cultivating strategic partnerships that enhance SkyOne's market presence and support the continued growth of our Business Banking and Cannabis Banking portfolios. The Business Development Manager also leads, coaches, and develops Business Relationship Managers, empowering them to achieve sales, service, and relationship-building goals while maintaining a strong focus on member experience.

In addition, this role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to align growth initiatives, support strategic projects, and evaluate performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Balancing external relationship development with internal leadership responsibilities, the Business Development Manager plays a critical role in advancing organizational objectives, strengthening community partnerships, and delivering long-term value to both members and the Credit Union.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent experience; 3–5 years of management experience in retail delivery or business development
  • Proven experience in community and relationship development
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational abilities
  • Strategic thinker with strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital tools (social media, webinars, chat platforms)
  • Solid understanding of sales principles, financial services, and the credit union industry
  • Knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, and target demographics
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive information
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and influence others
  • Willingness to travel and actively engage in community and industry organizations
