Job description

Job Responsibilities The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks an adjunct Chef Instructor to teach Baking & Pastry curriculum. This individual will be responsible for preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction, developing program syllabi, goals and objectives. Evaluating student's progress in attaining goals and objectives.

Maintaining program certification requirements as appropriate. Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports. Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.

Ensures safety and security requirements are meet in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss student's instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students. Manage and submit purchase requests and maintain supplies.

Minimum and Additional Requirements Must be ServSafe Manager certified. Possess an Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and/or Culinary Arts from a nationally/regionally accredited college or university. Five (5) years of documented/verifiable paid work experience within the past seven (7) years in the Culinary or Baking and Pastry field, with at least one (1) year in a management position.

Commitment to exhibit excellence and professionalism in the classroom and in the community. Preferred Qualifications American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification at CWPC (Certified Working Pastry Chef) or CCE (Certified Culinary Educator) or Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC) or higher or Certified Executive Chef (CEC). Teaching/training experience.

Experience in demonstrating hands-on Culinary Arts cooking techniques in accordance with the American Culinary Federation standards. Additional Comments The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks to be the first choice for higher education in South Carolina's Low Country Region.
