Job Duties

Norfolk State University's Parking Office invites applicants for the position of Administrative & Office Specialist Ill. The Administrative & Office Specialist I will perform a variety of complex administrative and technical duties to include:

  • Processing citation payments and payment demand letters.
  • Issue parking passes.
  • Handles complaints regarding parking tickets in person or via telephone.
  • Organize group and special parking request and coordinates with the parking supervisor to ensure the necessary procedures have been implemented.
  • Working under all weather conditions; stand, walk and lift 10Ibs.
  • Working rotating shifts to include day, night, weekends and some holidays.
  • Entering and retrieving information pertaining to vehicle registration, identification and status, using the hand-held computer system to write citation.
  • Working all special events.
  • Assist with special events to include planning and coordinating placement of cones and reserve spaces for large or small events, daily and on weekends.
  • Assist the Ticket Writers when staff shortage accrues.
  • Work the Gates when needed.
  • Mandatory overtime for special events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in keyboarding.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures. Good communication within the English language and the ability to use good discretion and sound judgement when handling a situation.
  • Considerable experience with computers.
  • Demonstrated clerical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under all weather conditions; stand, walk and lift 10 tbs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work rotating shifts to include day, night, weekends and some holidays.
  • Demonstrated ability to enter and retrieve information pertaining to vehicle registration, identification and status, using the hand-held computer system to write citation.
  • High school! diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalency diploma.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • The ability to work the front desk to include answering the phone and writing parking passes.
  • Good computer skills required and the use of Microsoft office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and take the appropriate action with minimum supervision
