Job Description

REPORTS TO: CEO & Executive Director


SUMMARY:

As a key member of SBN’s executive leadership team, the VP of Business Development will manage the full real estate portfolio, and oversee business, commercial and economic development activities of the Authority, with emphasis on maximizing revenue generation and return on investment. Also, growing and maintaining good partnerships with tenants and other business and community partners.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support and encourage the Authority’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.

• Develop, coordinate, implement, and manage long and short-term business development policies and programs.

• Provide general direction and supervision to the Properties Manager on the Authority’s properties services functions including managing agreements, leases, contracts, amendments, and permits and overseeing conformity with approved terms and conditions.

• Develop a comprehensive business development strategy to maximize revenue generation from Authority’s assets, including strategic property acquisition, to enhance existing, and develop new lines of business with revenue generating potential.

• Develop strategic plan for Air Cargo Development, Concessions, and Non-Aeronautical Revenue Development.

• Oversee and grow the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) program administered by the airport for six surrounding counties.

• Develop and execute the Authority business development strategy to attract new commercial operations and retain and secure growth from existing companies and lessees.

• Advise the CEO & Executive Director on day-to-day business development interests and activities.

• Develop business relationships with local area businesses and other economic development professionals to partner for regional economic development.

• Monitor the insurance and risk management functions for the Authority including public liability, automobile, special equipment, and property.

• Attend Authority Board and Committee meetings and respond to questions regarding business operations and development and/or to make presentations and answer questions.

• Develop operating procedures for business and properties management.

• Serve as primary lead contact for Foreign Trade Zone development and growth.

• Partner with other departments to develop plans and strategies for cohesive execution of growth strategies.

• Assist CEO & Executive Director in property acquisition, business development, and in community and tenant relations activities.

• All employees are expected to be part of our customer service team as Dedicated Customer Care Specialists.

• Perform any other duties as may be assigned to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Authority.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree, from an accredited college, in Business Administration, Business Development, Marketing, or a related field required. Master’s in Business Administration or other graduate degree is desirable.


EXPERIENCE:

Seven to ten years’ experience in progressively responsible business development position, with at least five years’ experience at a management level preferred. Experience with airport, governmental or nonprofit environment is a plus. Demonstrated understanding of commonly known practices for Business Development in public sector/airports desired.


LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.


KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY:

• Must have ability to use problem-solving techniques, to organize and prioritize, to maintain confidentiality, and to listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; demonstrated ability to deal with the public effectively and to represent the Authority in a professional manner. Should be able to prepare and present concise and accurate reports and make public presentations.

• Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with others at all levels of this and other organizations.

• Must be able to use Microsoft Office programs.

• Must be able to make quality decisions based on sound judgment; to manage time effectively; to conduct research for special reports; and, to organize complex information in an accurate, systematic way.

• Must be able to adapt to and manage organizational change, and to develop effective working relationships with others.

• Must be willing to travel and professionally represent the Authority.

• Must be able to maintain professional and technical information and attend appropriate conferences and seminars to stay current in the field.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is mainly performed in an office setting, with moderate inside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Entire office is smoke free. Occasional outside work may be required which may include exposure to extreme weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is performed in a standard office environment as well as occasional periods of time outdoors.

• Exposure to dust, grease, excessive noise or vibration, noxious gas or fumes and/or extreme outdoor weather conditions may be occasionally expected.

• Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Position requires frequent reaching with hands and arms, standing, and walking.

• Ability to occasionally climb, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl are required.

• Ability to sit for constant periods of time.

• Vision abilities required include close, distant, color, peripheral, depth and the ability to adjust focus.

• Work performed requires the ability to write, speak, and hear.

• Position is required to occasionally drive Authority vehicles on Authority grounds and public roadways.


HOURS OF WORK: The work week is Monday to Friday with 40 plus hours per week, generally aligned with the core administration hours, however hours may include early morning, evening, and weekend hours, as needed.
