Job description

About Alethea

Founded in 2019, Alethea is a technology company that delivers intelligence-driven risk detection and mitigation for organizations navigating a complex and fast-moving threat environment. Our AI-powered platform, Artemis, uses advanced analytics and machine learning to detect early signals of emerging narrative risk, assess credibility and potential impact, and support strategic mitigation before a threat reaches critical mass.

Alethea combines investigative expertise, analyst-driven insights, and cutting-edge technology to help public- and private-sector clients identify, assess, and respond to coordinated influence operations, disinformation, and digitally enabled threats that impact brand integrity, executive and employee safety, market confidence, and operational resilience.

Position Overview

We are seeking a results-driven Account Executive with experience selling into communications, marketing, reputation management, insights/data, or adjacent enterprise environments. This role owns the full sales cycle and focuses on driving revenue through consultative, intelligence-led selling with sophisticated buyers across corporate communications, brand and reputation, and insights functions.

The ideal candidate understands how enterprise leaders think about risk and insights, is excited to dive into the world of disinformation/misinformation and online risk, and is comfortable engaging senior executives on complex, high-stakes challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with product, analysts, and customer teams while helping scale Alethea's commercial footprint in one of our fastest-growing market segments.

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue net-new opportunities through targeted prospecting, network-driven outreach, and intelligence-led account planning
  • Engage organizations with mature communications, brand, and reputation functions, including those in high-visibility, high-scrutiny industries
  • Build and execute account plans targeting CCOs, VP, and director-level prospects

Relationship Management

  • Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers across communications, marketing, public affairs, legal, and executive leadership
  • Develop multi-threaded account relationships to support long sales cycles and enterprise deal structures
  • Serve as a credible, informed voice on narrative risk, influence operations, and brand protection at the executive level

Consultative, Intelligence-Led Selling

  • Understand each client's threat environment, reputational exposure, and communications infrastructure
  • Position Alethea as a strategic intelligence partner rather than a point solution or monitoring tool
  • Translate complex narrative risk and influence operation concepts into clear business value, executive outcomes, and use cases
  • Articulate the Artemis platform's early warning, narrative monitoring, and mitigation capabilities in terms relevant to communications and brand leadership
  • Adapt messaging fluidly across communications, marketing, legal, and security stakeholders within the same account

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute account and territory plans aligned to revenue targets
  • Manage consultative sales processes from discovery through negotiation and close
  • Support budget creation – prospects know they need the solution and the need is frequently unbudgeted.
  • Align deal strategy with the broader GTM motion, including demand generation, marketing-sourced pipeline, and expansion plays

Performance & Accountability

  • Meet or exceed revenue targets, activity metrics, and performance goals
  • Operate with discipline, integrity, and a strong ownership mindset
  • Own pipeline accuracy, deal progression, and forecasting discipline
  • Ensure timely follow-up, clear next steps, and structured deal execution throughout the sales cycle

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Business, or a related field (preferred)
  • 10-15 years of sales experience selling complex SaaS, intelligence, media monitoring, or risk technology solutions into communications, marketing, or public affairs environments
  • An eagerness to leverage technology to enhance productivity and create a meaningful interaction with prospects and customers
  • Proven ability to create own pipeline through networking, outreach, outbound, and events
  • Demonstrated track record of quarterbacking an enterprise sales cycle by driving the account strategy from opportunity to close
  • Deep understanding of how communications leaders evaluate and purchase technology and a managed service, and comfort navigating complex stakeholder environments
  • Understanding of how narratives are the new organizational, brand, and reputational risk
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to engage credibly at the C and VP level
  • Highly organized, emotionally intelligent, and comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Curious, adaptable, and motivated to deepen expertise in narrative intelligence and digital risk
  • Willingness to "get on the plane" and the grit to do whatever it takes to win.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary and stock options are negotiated based on experience. The total compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $360,000 (base+commission) per year, depending on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to cash compensation, this role is eligible for a stock option grant.
  • Healthcare at the gold-tier level, dental, and vision is fully funded by the employer. 50% of dependent coverage is provided by the employer. Additional benefits include employer provided life and AD&D insurance and an Employee Assistance Program with a variety of services, including generous Mental Wellbeing support.
  • Flexible vacation, sick leave, including office closure between Christmas and New Year's.
  • Employees may also participate in an Employer sponsored 401k, after their 6-month anniversary, with a 3% match. Health Savings (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) are also offered.
  • Hybrid work environment, with 3 days per week required in office in Washington, D.C or New York for employees in those cities.
  • Alethea is an equal opportunity employer that encourages people of all backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, abilities, and sexual orientations to apply. We are committed to being an inclusive place to work, while maintaining a workforce that represents the communities we serve.
