Dieterich Bank has a new location coming to downtown Waterloo soon and we're looking for someone ambitious to join our growth!

Assistant Branch Managers are front-line task experts who are responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in overseeing daily operations and front-line performance within the branch.

Assistant Branch Managers are the first line of assistance to the front-line retail banking staff. This position is responsible for building loyalty to the organization, training, and overseeing front-line tasks. Assistant Branch Managers are responsible for addressing compliance and task-related performance issues by offering assistance, retraining, and oversight as necessary. They gladly perform front-line duties as needed and in a manner that consistently models Dieterich Bank's standards of superior quality and service and are fully compliant with industry regulations.

Essential Duties:

  1. Train employees on all front-line tasks.
  2. Contribute to the performance appraisal process of front-line staff by providing input to the Branch Manager as needed.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to independently make and communicate sound decisions based upon Bank policies, knowledge, and experience.
  4. Verify that all policies and procedures are followed and that the risk of fraud is minimized.
  5. Support the business development and community involvement of every Dieterich Bank representative in regard to staffing, coverage, etc.
  6. Recommend new products/services, systems/policies, etc. to improve Bank performance.
  7. Ensure that Bank policies and procedures as well as industry regulations are met.
  8. Exercise good judgment and be alert to possible fraud.
  9. Craft a culture that includes a positive work atmosphere of mutual respect.
  10. Manage multiple tasks and respond to pressure and change with poise and confidence.
  11. Support the Retail Banking Manager on reaching performance goals both individually and at the branch level.
  12. Assist other branches as needed for staffing which may include travel.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of customer and employee information.

Secondary Duties:

  1. Promote Dieterich Bank within the community.
  2. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Must demonstrate our core values of Integrity, Value, Service Excellence, & Teamwork.
  2. Knowledge of banking procedures
  3. Ability to make texture judgments in verifying the authenticity of currency
  4. Knowledge of the Bank's products and services
  5. Customer service oriented
  6. Ability to work well with others and in a team environment, and assist other departments as needed.
  7. Must possess excellent communication skills and consultative skills to identify a client's financial needs. Additionally, must be able to communicate with customers well on a daily basis face-to-face or by telephone.
  8. Ability to proofread and verify written materials. In addition, read and process written and numerical information.
  9. Relationship management skills
  10. Maintain accuracy by consistently remaining detail-focused and have the ability to organize efficiently.
  11. Proficient in Microsoft Office
  12. Must demonstrate ethical conduct
  13. Time management skills

Work Schedule:

This position requires 40 hours each week with a varying schedule based on the hours of the branch.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to speak (fluently in English) and hear. The employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and arms to reach, handle, and feel. Up to 10 pounds may be lifted.

Education and Experience:

  1. Associates degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in customer service with banking experience being a plus, but not required

Work Environment:

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
