Job Description
Summary
Half-time Position at this time (average 20 hours a week/50 weeks)
The Executive Director reports to the SAZAEYC Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall management of the association, including program development, resource allocation and business operations. They are the face of SAZAEYC at community events, and a champion for children. They support SAZAEYC by offering leadership, guidance, and information. They are committed to the organization’s vision, mission and values.
Duties
Administration- The Executive Director works with the board to assess the strategic plan periodically. They update board materials when needed. They monitor quarterly and annual reporting requirements and assist the President and Vice-Presidents upon request.
Membership- The Executive Director maintains an accurate list of members and delivers services and communication to members in a way that honors a diverse, dynamic membership, in alignment with the mission of the association.
Advocacy- The Executive Director partners with local affiliate chapters, community organizations and our national partners to advocate for the early childhood profession.
Finance- The Executive Director oversees the budget, grants, contracts, and seeks additional external funding to increase sources of revenue. They ensure compliance with relevant non-profit regulations and the requirements of our national affiliate. This work and the carrying out of efforts are supported by the SAZAEYC Board of Directors.
Public Relations- The Executive Director establishes strong relationships with the Board of Directors, our members, partner organizations, government agencies, policymakers, and the general early childhood community. They attend the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) yearly conference and as many other NAEYC events as possible. They are a spokesperson for SAZAEYC at these events.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
·Experience in fund-raising or grant writing
·Baccalaureate degree or higher in public administration, family studies, early childhood education or a related field; or commensurate education and experience
·Two years’ experience in early childhood education, human services, education, business administration or related field
·Information management experience
·Experience working with a board is preferred
·Bilingual Spanish/English would be beneficial
