Job Description

Job Title: Chief of Student and Community Advancement

Supervisor: Principal or designee

Start Date: July 1 - June 30 Duration: 12 months

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:45 pm


Description: This position will have overall responsibility to implement, coordinate, and provide leadership, supervision, and guidance in three key areas: (1) College Admissions and Engagement Process (2) Alumni Association and Stewardship Efforts and (3) School Enrichment Programs. The CSCA will plan, promote, execute, and evaluate the college admission process for Codman Academy seniors as well as projects, and events for other career selections. The CSCA will promote alumni engagement and coordinate student support services for the alumni association. The CSCA will develop in coordination with the school administrative team enrichment programs that align with curriculum and instruction pathways. The CSCA must be skilled and experienced in making group presentations, and data analysis and able to work closely and effectively with Codman alumni, the Head of School, the Board of Trustees and other members of the school community.


Responsibilities include (but not limited to):


  • Lead College & Career Selection /Admissions/ Success Efforts

    • Build relationships with college admissions offices

    • Provide individual advising related to admissions process, academic, financial, professional, and personal challenges

    • Utilize campus/program-specific knowledge

    • Explicitly guide FAFSA application process

    • Facilitate peer, professor, and professional connections

    • Coordinate an oversee college tours

  • Collaborate with parents, colleagues, the Board's Alumni Success Committee, the Principal(s), and the Head of School) to manage and oversee Codman’s comprehensive alumni support program to promote college and career persistence with the ultimate goal of post-secondary degree completion

  • Lead Post-Graduate Supports

    • Provide explicit connections and training re: networking in relevant field

    • Provide resources for financial literacy re: home ownership, changing careers, giving back to younger alumni/Codman, general networking, salary negotiations, saving for retirement, etc.

  • Use data to inform practice and measure progress toward strategic plan goals

    • Maintain Salesforce database of alumni data

    • Manage transcript collection program to increase quantitative data

    • Administer regular alumni surveys to gather qualitative and quantitative data

    • Share alumni data with staff, Boards, and subcommittees

  • Maintain partnerships to support alumni (e.g. Bottom Line, uAspire)

  • Collaborate with other charter schools working on college persistence

  • Hold summer meetings with rising first-year students before they enter college and career programs

    • Ensure all students entering college and career programs have strong financial plans (e.g. waive student health insurance, sign transcript reimbursement form)

  • Support dissemination of funds to alumni, particularly scholarships and grant-funded unpaid internships


Enrichment for Students:

  • Organize and oversee enrichment programs to complement students' academic experiences.

  • Identify opportunities for students to participate in community service, internships, and experiential learning activities.

  • Coordinate with teachers and external partners to integrate enrichment opportunities into the curriculum.

  • Establish a system to monitor the enrichment requirements for every student


Enrichment Curriculum Coaching:

  • Provide instructional support and coaching to teachers in implementing curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.

  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and adapt curriculum materials, resources, and instructional approaches to meet students' diverse needs.

  • Facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions on curriculum-related topics.

  • Additional duties that may be assigned.
