Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Geotechnical/Materials Testing team, of the Earth & Environmental sector, based in Hamilton, ON office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Schedule daily assignments for the field technician roster.

  • Communicate with clients and contractors to provide excellent service and prompt responses to testing and scheduling requests.

  • Review field and laboratory testing reports, including compaction testing reports, subgrade review reports, daily concrete compressive strength reports, aggregate laboratory testing reports, and related documentation.

  • Supervise laboratory technicians in completing their daily responsibilities, such as testing concrete cylinders, performing grain size analyses, conducting Proctor tests, and other required procedures.

  • Assist with calibrations and safety checks for field and laboratory equipment.

  • Troubleshoot project site issues and provide technical guidance to field staff.

  • Attend staff meetings and project site meetings as required.

  • Collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, and municipal personnel.

What your experience looks like

  • Civil Engineering Technician/Technology diploma from a recognized technical college, or equivalent experience; a Bachelor's degree in Science/Geology is considered an asset.

  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience in a geotechnical materials testing environment.

  • Working knowledge of MTO, CSA, CCIL, and ASTM procedures is considered an asset.

  • CCIL certifications in concrete (field and lab) and aggregates (lab) are considered an asset.

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to job sites throughout Southern Ontario.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

This job posting is for immediate hire within our organization.  

The salary range for this role is between $75k-$90k. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
