Our services include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. We offer acute psychiatric, detox, and PTSD treatment. We are located in picturesque Marion County, FL. Position Summary:  Financial Counselor - Patient Accounts, Billing and Collections

We are currently looking for a qualified and experienced Full Time Financial Counselor to join our team of dedicated Behavioral Health professionals.  The Financial Counselor maintains records in patient accounting, insurance reimbursement and billing and collection processing.  They will be responsible for verifying insurance benefits on all admissions as well as potential admissions; collections with self-pay accounts on the front and back end of a patient’s stay.  The Financial Counselor uses Excel spreadsheets and must have an understanding of credit balances and insurance verification. They are crossed trained in other areas of the Patient Accounts office and will be responsible for filling in when other Patient Accounts staff are absent.  They will assist the Business Office Director with special projects.

Qualifications

Education:  High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in hospital/medical collections with insurance and self-pay accounts required.

Additional skills:  

  • Have the ability to deal with diverse and stress related situations in a calm manner.
  • Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Effective oral and written communication and guest relation skills required. 
  • Must have good organizational and computer technical skills and have the ability to set priorities. 
  • Must have understanding of credit balances, insurance verification and other hospital business office functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
