This position is onsite.  No hybrid or remote options.


We are seeking a skilled and adaptable IT Support Technician to join our team at the Masonic Medical Research Institute. The ideal candidate will provide hardware/software technical support for our research and administration teams, ensuring smooth operation of IT systems crucial for our operations.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and troubleshoot computer systems, including workstations and servers.

2. Diagnose and resolve common network connectivity issues.

3. Assist with software installation and configuration, focusing on scientific applications and data analysis tools.

4. Ensure proper functioning of data storage systems and backup procedures for data.

5. Help ensure the cybersecurity of the Institute

6. Collaborate with researchers to support IT solutions for specific experimental setups.

7. Assist with setting up projectors, displays, and audio equipment for presentations.

8. Assist in maintaining compliance with data security and privacy regulations.

9. Provide basic training to lab members on IT tools and best practices.

10. Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software procurement.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 

2. 1+ year of experience in IT support, preferably in a scientific or academic environment.

3. Strong knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

4. Familiarity with software such as the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.

5. Basic understanding of networking and data storage technologies.

6. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

7. Ability to work in a fast-paced research environment and quickly learn new technologies.

8. Basic understanding of laboratory processes and scientific research principles is a plus.
