The Position
Our bank client is seeking to fill an SVP Commercial Lending Manager role in the Johnsburg, IL area. The position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall direction in all lending activities for this footprint. This position requires a strategic senior leader who possesses strong analytical and critical thinking skills, exceptional leadership ability, and a proven history in growing a sound loan portfolio. The successful candidate will ensure conformity with legal and regulatory compliance as well as Bank lending policy; contribute to the Bank’s success; and ensure that service expectations are exceeded.

This opportunity has a generous salary of up to $180K and a benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

SVP - Commercial Lending Officer responsibilities include:
  • Manages the Commercial Banking activities for a large geographic area or a geographic region poised for strategic commercial lending growth initiatives and leads a team of CRE and C&I Lenders.
  • Utilize analytical skills to make critical loan decisions and solve problems.
  • Coordinate all activities of the Commercial Lenders to ensure that project tasks are completed by: scheduling and facilitating team meetings, executive updates, and required status reporting.
  • Provide accurate management of the portfolio.
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while clarifying roles and responsibilities.
  • Purse excellence in all aspects of business.
  • Lead the underwriting and approval of new credit requests and credit line renewals for existing customers
  • Negotiate terms and conditions for transactions.
  • Lead or is directly involved in underwriting CRE and C&I Loans in this footprint.
  • Manage accounts to ensure customer retention and performance to specifications.
  • Perform rigorous analysis of transactions and resolve problem accounts in partnership with other teams and specialists.
  • Coach and develop lenders.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations, including specifically compliance.
  • Other job duties may be assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Business, Accounting, or Finance. Master of Business Administration preferred.
  • Ten years of commercial banking leadership experience with a minimum of five years related to commercial credit review or commercial credit experience.
  • Direct lending and lending/sales management experience is ideal.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in the Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
