Bohlender Funeral Home is seeking an experienced and compassionate Managing Funeral Director to lead our historic funeral home nestled in the heart of downtown Fort Collins. This is a unique opportunity to steward a well respected location with deep community roots while guiding a dedicated team in delivering exceptional care to families.
As Managing Funeral Director, you will serve as both a leader and mentor, setting the tone for service excellence, professionalism, and compassion. Youโ€™ll work alongside staff and oversee the day-to-day operations while remaining closely connected to the families and community we serve. This role blends hands on funeral service with leadership, coaching, and operational oversight.
Bohlender Funeral Home has long been a trusted presence in Fort Collins, a vibrant community known for its welcoming spirit, walkable downtown, and strong sense of connection. Located steps from local shops, restaurants, and community landmarks, the funeral home plays an important role in the fabric of the city. Educational, Licensure and Skill Requirements

  • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or job specific skills acquired through on-the-job training or apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Funeral Directorsโ€™ and Embalmer License in Coloradoย or the ability to reciprocate license.
  • A minimum of five years of similar or related experience.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels including management, associates, home office and families.
  • Passing of both sections of the National Board Exam (NBE) as per state requirements.
  • Possess a valid Driversโ€™ License and meet the driving performance standards as determined by management.ย  MVRโ€™s may be reviewed annually for compliance, and any conviction or at-fault accidents should be immediately reported to management.

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to tolerate exposure to hazardous substances subject to government requirements; occasional lifting, pushing and pulling, with assistance, of objects up to approximately 600 pounds; manual dexterity required for clerical tasks; occasional stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 30 pounds for short distances.ย 
  • Ability to travel by standard methods of transportation.ย 
  • Must be capable of communicating with management and supervised employees.ย
