THE OPPORTUNITY
The Vice President, Franchise & Development is a senior leader and key partner to the CEO, responsible for driving Starbirdโ€™s national growth across both corporate and franchise restaurants. This executive owns the full development strategyโ€”expanding market presence, increasing brand penetration, and building long-term revenue. We are looking for a visionary, execution-focused leader who can create repeatable, franchise-ready systems and build a disciplined development engine for a national brand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Franchise Growth & Development
โ€ข Lead national franchise strategy and market expansion
โ€ข Build and manage pipeline, territory plans, and growth forecasting
โ€ข Partner with the CEO and executive team on development priorities and investments
โ€ข Create scalable systems, reporting, and infrastructure
โ€ข Own franchise, real estate, and corporate development budgets


Franchise Recruitment & Relationships
โ€ข Build relationships with sophisticated multi-unit operators and developers
โ€ข Lead franchise recruitment, networking, and lead generation
โ€ข Represent Starbird at industry events
โ€ข Evaluate candidates for operational, financial, and cultural fit
โ€ข Lead discovery, presentations, and approval processes
โ€ข Serve as primary executive contact through the development lifecycle


Real Estate & Market Development
โ€ข Lead real estate strategy, market prioritization, and site approvals
โ€ข Partner with franchisees, brokers, and landlords to secure strong locations
โ€ข Support site selection, LOIs, lease review, and development timelines
โ€ข Collaborate with Construction, Design, and Operations on openings
โ€ข Establish scalable development standards and market criteria


Franchise Development & Compliance
โ€ข Oversee development from agreements through openings
โ€ข Ensure franchisees meet development schedules and commitments
โ€ข Manage accurate reporting on deals, pipeline, and market growth
โ€ข Oversee FDD updates, agreements, and regulatory compliance with legal
โ€ข Support renewals, transfers, restructures, and terminations
โ€ข Build systems and tools to support long-term franchise expansion


Requirements:


WHAT WEโ€™RE LOOKING FOR
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree required; MBA preferred
โ€ข 10โ€“12+ years of executive leadership in restaurant, food & beverage, or multi-unit consumer brands
โ€ข Proven experience scaling brands across corporate and franchise systems
โ€ข Strong relationship builder with a track record of influencing franchise partners
โ€ข Expertise in franchise recruitment, territory planning, and restaurant real estate
โ€ข Strong financial acumen, negotiation skills, and data-driven decision-making
โ€ข High integrity and professionalism
โ€ข Experience building scalable franchise infrastructure and systems
โ€ข Strong understanding of franchise agreements, FDDs, and regulatory requirements
โ€ข Deep knowledge of restaurant unit economics and development ROI
