Primary Purpose of the Organization:
Fayetteville State University is accepting applications on a continual basis for the Temporary Administrative Pool. Departments across campus hire from the Temporary Administrative Pool on an "as needed" basis and positions vary depending on departmental needs. As the University has openings, those candidates whose background and experience appear to match the requirements most closely will be contacted for an interview.
Temporary employees are assigned to campus departments to handle special projects, to fill in while positions are vacant, or to cover for employees who are temporarily out. Duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the departmental needs. Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Answering telephones
• Greeting customers that enter the office
• Sorting office mail
• Managing correspondence via email
• Processing paperwork
• Performing data entry
Primary Purpose of the Position:
Ideal candidates will possess the proven ability to handle multiple responsibilities, communicate and interact effectively with faculty, staff, and students with a high degree of professionalism, and have 1 - 3 years of previous related experience. Microsoft Office Suite skills are required.
This is a temporary, hourly position. Generally, most assignments are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours may vary depending on departmental needs.

  • Data Entry/Filing & Record Maintenance
  • Program/Project Assistant
  • Academic Research Assistant

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One year or more office support or similar work experience in an administrative capacity; preferably in an academic environment

Knowledge skills and abilities:
  • Demonstrated level of professional customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office support and management
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook; ability to train on and learn new computerized systems
  • Keen attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality while managing competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate and work alongside faculty, staff, students, vendors, and outside guests of the University in an effective and professional manner.
